Youth Matters
Youth Matters is a support group for HIV/AID infected/affected teens, ages of 13 to 24.  It is designed to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential outlet for sharing with peers who are going through similar experiences. Youth Matters has been effective in reaching out to youth in schools in Baltimore on HIV and STD issues. It has empowered them through trainings and workshops with leadership skills on how to become peer advocates and positive role models in their communities. Over 92% of the responses from the 3,000 youth who attended Youth Matters one-day workshops in the last six years indicated that these training have changed their perception of risk and sexual behaviors.
