Children's Services
At the heart of our organization are our child care services. The Johnson Square Academy, which is an accredited preschool and certified in the provision of child care within the state of Maryland, provides a range of day and respite care for children ages 2-5 and their families with or without special needs, and who may require more comprehensive services.
The program facilitates the social, cognitive, and intellectual development of each child with individualized attention to meet their needs. Training is also provided for parents on child development, medical care, and medication regiments.
The center is open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. At Johnson Square, your child will receive two meals and a snack each day. Vouchers are accepted. Staff and teachers have experience working with children who have special needs, and also assist in potty training.
LIGHT also provides off-site child care services to institutions needing such services in order to better care for the parent or other caregiver. Examples of locations where we offer this service include hospitals and clinics, businesses, schools, and other non profits.
